It is a part of disassembly, ideal for solving the stabilization system (ESP/ESC) and ABS, where the correct reading of the steering wheel is key to the safe behavior of the vehicle.
What is used for: SAS – Steering Angle Sensor Angle Sensor sees the position and speed of the steering wheel and passes them to the ABS/ESP control unit. In the event of a failure, the ESP/ABS indicator often lights up, stabilization may be deactivated, and the diagnosis of the steering wheel angle sensor. Replacing for the original part is the safest way to restore the function.
Location and mounting: The sensor is located under the steering wheel on the steering column. Always disconnect the battery before work and wait a few minutes for the airbag. This is followed by dismantling the airbag and steering wheel, removing the column covers, disconnecting the sensor connector and replacement. Make sure the steering wheel is properly centered during assembly. After installation, it is usually necessary to calibrate the basic position of the sensor in the diagnostics – in the PSA using Diabox/Lexia, for Toyota using Techstream (basic sensor settings in the ABS/ESP control unit).
