Description
The BSM (Boîtier de Servitude Moteur) is the engine bay power distribution and control unit used on many PSA/Stellantis vehicles. It houses fuses and relays and often provides consolidated electrical connections and protection for circuits such as lighting, wipers, fuel pump, glow plugs and other engine-bay functions. As an electronic assembly it routes power and signals between the vehicle wiring harness and the respective subsystems; a faulty unit can cause multiple electrical faults at once.
Replacement Procedure
- Always disconnect the battery before starting work to avoid short circuits and protect the unit.
- Locate the BSM in the engine bay (usually near the battery or inner wing) and remove any protective covers and securing clips.
- Label or photograph connector positions if needed, then carefully unplug electrical connectors and remove retaining bolts.
- Fit the replacement unit, secure bolts to manufacturer torque recommendations, reconnect connectors and reinstall protective covers.
