How It Works And When To Replace
The sun visor provides a pivoting shield that blocks direct sunlight from the driver’s eyes. Typical wear items are the pivot pin and retaining clip; plastic mounts can crack and the fabric or cover may delaminate over many years. Replace the visor when it no longer stays in position, has a broken pivot/clip, torn cover or a damaged vanity mirror (if fitted).
Replacement Procedure
- Prepare Tools: Phillips screwdriver or Torx (depending on fixing), trim pry tool, cloth.
- If The Visor Has An Illuminated Vanity Mirror: Disconnect the battery before unplugging any electrical connector to avoid short circuits.
- Remove Any Trim Cap Covering The Fastener, Unscrew The Fixing(s) And Gently Slide The Pivot Pin Out Of The Bracket.
- Transfer Any Mounting Brackets Or Screws To The New Visor If Required, Fit The New Visor Into The Bracket And Refit Screws Securely.
- Check Movement And Retention: The Visor Should Move Smoothly And Hold Position Without Excessive Play Or Rattle.
