Description
Engine cooling fan for Citroën C3 III, C3 Aircross and Peugeot 208 and 2008
This replacement radiator fan is designed for direct-fit installation on Citroën and Peugeot small cars, providing reliable engine cooling and support for the air conditioning condenser. Ideal for professional workshops and experienced DIY mechanics, the unit restores proper airflow through the radiator to prevent overheating, improve climate control performance and ensure stable engine operating temperatures.
Key Benefits
Direct-fit unit matched to original equipment geometry for easy installation. Restores cooling efficiency, reduces risk of overheating, and helps maintain AC performance. Commonly searched under OE code 9801666680 for quick identification.
How It Works
The fan assembly draws air through the radiator and AC condenser when cooling demand is detected by the vehicle control systems or thermal switches. It reduces coolant temperature under load, during idling and in traffic, and assists the climate control system during high cabin cooling demand.
How To Replace
- Park on a level surface, switch off the engine and allow it to cool.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal before any electrical work.
- Remove any engine covers, undertray panels or intake ducts that block access to the fan assembly.
- Unplug the electrical connector to the fan motor and remove mounting bolts/clips that secure the fan shroud to the radiator.
- Carefully free the fan assembly from the radiator and remove it as a unit to avoid bending the radiator fins.
- Install the new fan in reverse order, ensure correct seating of the shroud, reconnect the electrical connector and tighten fasteners securely.
- Reconnect the battery and verify fan operation by running the engine to operating temperature and by switching on the air conditioning.
Installation Recommendations
- Always Disconnect The Battery Before Starting Work To Prevent Short Circuits And Protect Electronic Components.
- Handle The Radiator And Fan Shroud Carefully To Avoid Damaging Fins Or Crack-Prone Plastic Parts.
- Inspect Electrical Connector Pins For Corrosion And Repair Wiring Or Replace Terminals If Needed.
- Check Related Items Such As Fan Relay, Fuse And Temperature Sensors When Diagnosing Fan Failures.
- After Installation, Confirm Fan Runs At The Correct Temperatures And With The A/C System Active.
Why The Part Most Often Fails
- Motor Wear: Bearings And Brushes Degrade Over Time, Causing Increased Noise Or Complete Seizure.
- Water Ingress And Corrosion: Road Spray, Salt And Moisture Can Corrode Connectors And Motor Internals.
- Electrical Faults: Failed Relays, Blown Fuses Or Damaged Wiring Can Prevent Fan Activation.
- Physical Damage: Impact From Debris Or Bent Shroud/Blades Reduces Efficiency And Causes Vibration.
- Overheating Events: Sustained High Engine Temperatures Or Blocked Radiator Increase Load On The Motor.
